How to Prepare for a New Track: Sim and Team Preparations Ahead of Miami

Martinius Stenshorne on Using the Sim to Master New Tracks

The addition of Miami presents a new challenge to teams and drivers alike as Formula 2 visits North America for the very first time in its 10-year history. But what does that actually involve? The Formula 2 website asked Martinius Stenshorne about what he and Rodin Motorsport will be up to ahead of flying to Florida and what goes into learning a new track.

I don’t think it’s very different from other events, to be honest. It’s the usual sim prep, we did two days already this week in the factory on the sim, and then we’re going next week for a day or two again. So, in that respect, it’s the usual sim prep, and then some sim at home as well.”

Supercar Blondie spoke with Joel Somerville, the CMO of Cool Performance Simulators about how the company started and the success the company has had. “We’ve worked with drivers like Lando, George Russell, Alex Albon, and Carlos Sainz,” said Somerville. “They are in F1 now, but we were working with them in the early stages of their career before they became household names,” he added. Impressively, the company is also working with eight Formula 3 drivers and 20 in Formula 4.

Virtex and AIX Racing Enter Technical Collaboration

Virtex has announced a technical collaboration with AIX Racing supporting their programs in the FIA Formula 2 and Formula 3 Championships. The collaboration marks the start of a new era for AIX Racing, working together with Virtex’s simulation solutions and expertise for their race preparation.

AIX Racing drivers and engineers work hand in hand with Virtex to run dedicated simulator sessions, combining setup development with detailed performance analysis on every track of the season. The work goes beyond session time: Virtex has developed high-fidelity vehicle models for AIX Racing, replicating the physical and functional behaviours of the cars down to all vehicle controls. The models will continue to be refined throughout the season through real-world data correlation, driving an ongoing evolution toward the most accurate digital representation of the car possible.

SimCraft Brings Professional Racing Simulator Training to KartSport

SimCraft has partnered with KartSport North America to deploy the APEX 4 CT at Trackhouse Motorplex in Mooresville, North Carolina. This collaboration brings professional racing simulator training into KartSport’s driver development program. As a result, developing drivers now gain access to motion simulation technology that professional racing programs have long used exclusively.

This is about building a foundation that carries beyond karting. For drivers who choose to pursue the next level of their careers, whether in open-wheel or sports car racing, having access to tools like SimCraft helps us better prepare them for what’s ahead and shorten that learning curve.”
Eric Jones, President, KartSport North America
