BRDC Rising Stars is one of two programs run by the British Racing Drivers Club intended to foster young driver development. They also run the BRDC SuperStars program. According the the BRDC:
Through these complementary programmes the BRDC aims to assist the very best British and Commonwealth drivers achieve their goal of success in top level motor sport whilst also ensuring there is a strong and enthusiastic flow of new members to the Club.
Above all, the BRDC young driver programmes ensure the BRDC remains relevant to those competing in the sport today. BRDC SuperStars and Rising Stars visit National and International racing podiums on a regular basis and since the conception of both programmes, there have been many high profile championships secured by BRDC young drivers. There is no doubt that the Club has an eye for spotting the very best.
The Rising Stars program is aimed at drivers 24 and under. According to the BRDC:
Once scouted by a member of the ‘Rising Stars Scouts Panel’, the driver is invited to Silverstone for an informal meeting. Following this meeting, the driver will be invited to become a Rising Star, and providing his or her career continues with upward momentum, the ability to stay on the scheme until the year of their 24th birthday. From Formula Ford to Formula 3 from British GT to BTCC, the BRDC Rising Stars will be in action throughout the season, and with BRDC SuperStars adding a second tier to the BRDC ‘youth policy’, with the BRDC embracing this important sector of the sport – the future of British motor racing is in safe hands.
