Sustainability in motorsport is no longer a choice—it’s a necessity! In this powerful webinar recording, industry leaders discuss how motorsport is tackling environmental challenges head-on. Featuring:
- Dr. Cristiana Pace – Founder & CEO, Enovation Consulting
- Bernhard Hafenscher – Strategic Project Coordinator, WRC Promoter GmbH
- Logan Waddle – Sustainability Program Leader, Penske Entertainment
Key Topics Covered:
- Sustainable fuels & reducing motorsport’s carbon footprint
- Overcoming logistical challenges in implementing green solutions
- The role of the Sustainable Championship Index™ (SChI™) in measuring impact
- Why collaboration, not competition, is the key to a greener future
Motorsport is at a turning point. Just like the safety revolution of the 2000s, sustainability is driving the future of racing. From IndyCar’s sugarcane ethanol fuel to WRC’s fossil-free solutions, championships are pushing boundaries for a cleaner, greener sport.

Maja Czarzasty-Zybert looks at the issue of how to reduce the carbon footprint of Formula 1’s logistics. “F1 has set an ambitious goal – achieving carbon neutrality by 2030. While advancements in car technology and sustainable fuels bring the sport closer to this objective, logistics remain one of the biggest challenges. What solutions could turn the pinnacle of motorsport into a pioneer of sustainable transport?” You can read her thoughts here.
This is not directly related to motorsport but is applicable none the less to a certain extent. Esmé Deadman modeled the carbon impact of football team travel using SAF, conventional flights and public transport. Read here to see what see what she found. “Plane travel is objectively bad for the environment: the aviation industry accounts for approximately 2.5% of annual global emissions. Recent innovations have seen the rise of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), promising up to 80% reduction of lifecycle emissions. Could these fuels be the solution to sport’s flight controversy?”

Tras and Bcomp have collaborated on the SUZUKI CN CHALLENGE racing motorbike, used to participate in the FIM World Endurance Championship Suzuka 8 hours race. Tras used Bcomp’s materials to create a natural flax fibre body and its flax composites to develop the front, rear fender and winglets of the motorbike. You can get more details on the project here.

The Race looks at why Formula 1 is suddenly wavering over their 2026 engine regulations. “Things have changed,” said Tombazis when I asked him why the certainty of two years ago had been replaced with what would potentially be a dramatic reversal. “A significant factor is the perception, even amongst manufacturers, about the speed at which electrification will happen.” You can read more about the issue here.
Following years of preparation and planning, Extreme H is proud to have supported the UK’s first legal wild beaver release in over 400 years, in an aim to positively contribute to biodiversity restoration in the UK.
The series’ provided financial support to the National Trust back in 2021 as part of its Jurassic X Prix Legacy Program, back in Season 1 of Extreme E, which highlighted the importance of rewilding efforts in tackling climate change and restoring ecosystems.
