SESSIONS:
Why Brands Sponsor
This presentation is for racers.
Different companies have different needs.
* Retail stores want foot traffic.
* Service providers want leads.
* Food & beverage manufacturers want sampling.
* Tool companies want craftsmen to try their products.
* Equipment manufacturers seek to demonstrate functionality.
* Aftermarket parts and endemic brands want winners using their products.
* Young companies want visibility.
* Mature companies want B2B and hospitality.
Learn why brands sponsor & what they want in return.
Never offer Exposure!
This presentation is for racers.
The #1 reason racers don’t get a call back after soliciting a potential sponsor is because they offered exposure, when the company wants sales.
Learn why you should never try to sell exposure, and what you should offer potential sponsors instead.
How Marketing has Changed
This presentation is for both racers and sponsors.
As technology advances, so do the tools and resources available to marketers.
Marketing today is not about exposing logos, running ads, and offering incentives. It’s about establishing digital connections between brands and customers. To maximize your value to sponsors, you have to maximize those connections.
This lesson goes over new tools you can use, from technology to data science to outsourcing to affiliate relations.
The Difference Between Decks & Proposals
This presentation is for racers.
The #2 reason why racers don’t get a call back after soliciting a potential sponsor is because they sent a proposal instead of a deck, or vice versa.
Decks & proposals are very different. Don’t send the wrong one to the right person!
Decks open doors and start relationships. Proposals close deals and propose relationships.
What Goes in a Deck
This presentation is for racers.
Decks are used to get attention. They can be colorful with lots of photos.
Don’t use the deck to sell somebody something. Use the deck to start a relationship instead.
Learn what to put in a deck that gets Marketing Directors to read it.
What Goes into a Proposal
This presentation is for racers.
Proposals are documents that offer specific deliverables in exchange for sponsorship.
Proposals are typically Word files with few or no images.
Proposals often become the template for the legal agreement, so they should contain accurate values and viable deliverables.
Learn how to write proposals that close deals.
Valuing Tangible and Intangible Assets
This presentation is for both racers and sponsors.
Tangible assets are logos on the car, screen time, TV coverage, articles or mentions in the media, etc. Your tangible assets have a fair relative value. You can estimate the dollar value of tangible assets by comparing them to similar media.
Your intangibles, however, are priceless. Intangible assets are things like reputation, integrity, fan loyalty, series strength, relevancy, etc.
This session teaches you how to calculate the value of your assets from a sponsor’s perspective.
Return on Investment (ROI)
This presentation is for racers.
Industry executives, marketing managers, and CFO’s explain how they calculate return on investment. In other words, whether or not sponsoring you had any financial value to them so they want to renew.
Creating Content for Social Media
This presentation is for racers.
Megan Meyer, creator of Driven to Social Academy shares her secrets on creating value through social media.
Megan will explain what image formats and resolutions work best for social media, when and how often to post, and how Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Twitter reach different demographics and should be used independently for different sponsors.
Valuing Social Media
This presentation is for both racers and sponsors.
Learn from Hookit, the company that built the first and most powerful Sponsorship Analytics and Valuation Platform™ to quantify and track the value and performance of sports sponsorships in social and digital media, how companies put monetary value on sponsorships.
Creating Content with Podcasts, YouTube, and Webinars
This presentation is for racers.
The race to create digital content has begun! Everyone can create, post, and share content. Most do it on social media and for YouTube. Some are also hosting podcasts, webinars, virtual workshops, and online entertainment.
You don’t have to wait for a race to create content. Today, you only need like-minded connections, friends, and followers to create entertaining shows and content to promote sponsors.
LinkedIn is Where the Money Is
This presentation is for both racers and sponsors.
Hosted by Patrick Shelton, group owner of MPG, the largest motorsports group on LinkedIn with 43,000 members, will share his insights on how to use LinkedIn to create profitable B2B relationships.
How to Activate at Events
This presentation is for both racers and sponsors.
Paying for a sponsorship is only half of the marketing equation. Activating at the events is the other half.
To maximize the returns on sponsorship marketing, teams and companies must activate in ways that resonate with the events participants and spectators.
Matt Martelli, CEO of Mad Media and The Mint 400 explains how proper activation can increase the results and returns of sponsorship investments many times more than their actual cost.
Networking and Trade Shows
This presentation is for racers.
The 3rd most common mistake racers make when soliciting potential sponsors is sending a deck to, or making a sponsorship pitch to, the wrong person.
Don’t waste time pitching your team to everyone with “Marketing” in their title. Learn how to find and reach the decision makers. Learn the best places to meet and how to get their attention.
Closing Comments and What to Expect in the Future
This presentation is for both racers and sponsors.
Alex Striler, Host of Meet The Sponsors and author of bestselling Motorsports Marketing and Sponsorships looks ahead at future opportunities and challenges for racers seeking sponsorship.
