A Selection of Race & Road Cars for Sale in the Motorsport Prospects Marketplace for May 4, 2022

Here are this week’s selections of Race & Road Cars for Sale in the Motorsport Prospects Marketplace in partnership with Racing Edge. This week I am featuring the following 4 race cars and 2 road cars.

Ginetta G20

Founded in 1958 Ginetta designed and manufactured a wide range of sportscars for the track and the road, all the way from the humble G1 to the high tech LMP3 cars of more recent years. This particular Ginetta G20 was only used once or twice as a demonstrator by Dutch Race Promoter Huub Vermeulen and with approximately 500 kms should be considered as good as new. The car has a full cage and would be ideal for most open class race series, Hill climbs and / or track days.

1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass NASCAR

This is the last Oldsmobile driven by Dave Marcis, one of the top drivers of the 70’s and the last of the non-factory supported independent / owner drivers. Chassis #BP7963 was fabricated in late 1979 by Banjo Matthews and was last run by Dave in 1985 under Transmissions Unlimited sponsorship at North Wilkesboro in the NW Bank 400 on April 21 and in the Budweiser 400 at Riverside on June 2 where he finished 12th. Later the car was put on Display at the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in Talladega Alabama so that the public may remember and honor the cars and drivers who helped make NASCAR into what it is today. Now restored to 1985 specifications we present this authentic rolling piece of NASCAR history.

1971 Porsche 911S

This wonderful 1971 Porsche 911S was delivered new at the Porsche factory in Stuttgart to its first and only owner. Mr. J. Korbin of Lompac, CA purchased this 911S and used it while he was stationed with the US Air Force in Germany. He kept the car with him in Europe for about 3 years and had his local Porsche dealer bring the car back to his home in California. Mr. Korbin, an Air Force man his entire career would cherish, and meticulously maintain his 911S until his passing in 2016. The drivers front turn lens still adorns the Department of Defense Vandenberg AFB entrance badge. The car was then kept by his wife and driven and maintained by her until 2021. Mr. Korbin left a journal of hand written notes from the day the car returned back from Germany in 1974 through 2016. Every gas stop, every oil change, valve job etc is written down. Major service notes include a full engine rebuild in 2006 along with new clutch and brakes. About $20,000 worth of service records since 2014 include new fuel pump, rebuilt MFI System, new stainless exhaust and heat exchangers, new Capacitive Discharge (CD Box), new alternator, new front and rear Bilstein shocks, and new driver seat upholstery. A recent PPI showed compression of 165 PSI across all 6 cylinders.
