New Porsche 911 Challenge Introduced

Dan Wells from Drivers Lab explains the importance of understanding data analysis for young drivers and their parents. “Every race weekend, parents stand behind an engineer’s screen looking at data they do not understand, nodding. I want to fix that, because a family that can read the basics of a data screen makes better decisions about everything, from coaching to teams to budgets.”

The New Porsche 911 Challenge

New Porsche 911 Challenge Introduced

Porsche is opening up a new approach to customer motorsport: The 911 Challenge combines the DNA of the current 911 GT3 with that of a racing car. Thanks to production-based technology, comprehensive safety features and motorsport-ready driving dynamics systems, the Challenge provides a gateway to competitive racing. The structure for operating and spare parts costs has been developed specifically for this purpose.

Built on the latest Porsche 911 GT3, the Porsche 911 Challenge creates a new gateway into Porsche Motorsport, serving as the starting point for a journey that can lead from track days to the highest levels of professional competition, all while remaining rooted in the same iconic platform: the 911.

Designed as Porsche’s newest entry-level race car, the 911 Challenge combines key elements of the latest 911 GT3 road car with proven motorsport technology. The result is a purpose-built race car that delivers the performance & emotional connection expected from Porsche while remaining approachable for drivers taking their first steps into motorsport.

Beyond organized competition, the 911 Challenge will also open new opportunities for dedicated track-day use. Whether the goal is competing in a Porsche One-Make championship, improving as a driver, or simply enjoying a purpose-built race car on track, the 911 Challenge provides a new way to experience Porsche Motorsport.

With this new entry point, this is how the Porsche pyramid now looks:

  • 911 Challenge (The entry point)
  • GT4 / 911 Cup (The stepping stone)

New Porsche 911 Challenge Introduced

Radical Motorsport will introduce the new Hankook Ventus R54 across its global racing network from January 2027, bringing competitors a lighter, higher-performing tire developed exclusively for Radical competition – a focus reflected in the R54 name, with the ‘R’ standing for Radical.

Developed for the SR3 and SR10, the new tire delivers gains in dry grip, degradation and performance throughout its life, as well as achieving a 4kg (8.8lb) weight reduction per set. Engineered through an extensive development and track-testing program, the R54 replaces the outgoing Ventus C52 and is the latest product of Radical’s technical partnership with Hankook, a global leader in tire technology.

An optimized compound and advanced casing construction have enabled those improvements, without compromising the durability and consistency of the outgoing tire.

Polo Cup Lite to Expand the Polo Cup Germany’s Youth Development Program from 2028

The Polo Cup Germany has got off to an extremely successful start. The high level of interest has demonstrated just how great the demand is for affordable motorsport in Germany. This demand is being met: from the 2028 season onwards, Germany’s most affordable touring car cup will gain an additional entry-level series in the form of the new Polo Cup Lite. The aim is to make the transition from karting to motor racing even easier and more affordable for young talents.

The Polo Cup Lite is aimed in particular at young drivers who wish to take their first steps in touring car racing, and it consistently upholds the values of the Polo Cup, namely to offer affordable, sustainable motor sport of a high standard for everyone.

The new series is deliberately positioned below the Polo Cup Germany and complements its tried-and-tested junior programme with a further stage of development. In doing so, the series organisers are responding to the great interest in the Polo Cup Germany concept and creating a further opportunity to offer affordable motor racing at a professional level.
