Esports World Cup Champion Aspires to Compete in Real-World Motorsport

Esports World Cup Champion Luke Bennett is hoping that his success in esports can be parlayed into success in real-world motorsport and he is featured in this week’s Sim Racing Roundup. You will also learn about David Dalton Jr’s journey to the Prodigy Racing League, comparing the iRacing and real-life Mercedes-AMG GT4 and much more!

From Sim Racing to the Real Thing

Luke Bennett

Luke Bennett is coming home from the first Esports World Cup in Saudi Arabia as a world champion. Not only that, the 19-year-old from Bromsgrove in Worcestershire is also returning £100,000 richer after bagging the top prize in sim racing (short for simulated racing). And he wants to bring into the world of real-world motorsport.

“I hope one day to get into the real world of motorsport,” he says. “I see more and more people get a way in through sim racing now, and hopefully that does happen. If not, I’ve got plenty of time to decide what I want to do as I’m still only 19.”

David Dalton Jr.

Montclair native David Dalton Jr. is a driving pioneer in unchartered territory this fall in what is one of the first world-wide ‘e2real’ auto racing leagues. Dalton was one of 24 racers who were drafted in July for the international Prodigy Racing League (PRL) real-world series that starts in October. Being drafted also means that Dalton will receive a ‘golden ticket’ to the first season with a paid contract. The Montclair Journal charts his journey.

N Challenge

Curtis Moldrich of Car Magazine tries out Hyundai’s N Challenge to see if gaming makes you a better driver.

“The premise of the event was simple; it was to test the results of a survey. Hyundai interview 1000 people – and 52% of them believed their reactions were better due to sim racing. 42% also said they had better road awareness and 39% said they could see hazards better because of it. These are punchy numbers, and ones Hyundai wanted me to consider by putting me in the sim-racing seat, and then the driving seat.”

Ex-Stig Ben Collins takes on Charles Leclerc on a Monaco qualifying lap on the £2.5 MILLION rig ‪@dynisma9516‬ in the video above.

“I’ve never raced at Monaco… so this was quite a journey of discovery. The full motion immersion rig pulled no punches.. What are my chances of beating him on his home track… er? This is the exact setup the Ferrari F1 team uses for practicing, making it very interesting to see how close to Charles I can get on the virtual track. I hope you enjoy this video as I continue my journey getting to grips with the crazy world of sim racing.”
