On episode 234 of Inside the SCCA presented by RaceSchool.com they talk about what some might think is voodoo science… data. Their guest is Keri Anderson. She’s a data and electronics specialist.

“We dig into data acquisition for newbies. Keri has some suggestions for entry level tools and we talk about how to use those tools to help us go faster. It’s easy to see why her positive outlook and passion for showing people how to get the most out of data make her a sought after coach and data cruncher. If you are thinking about getting into data this is the episode for you.”

Correction: Keri wanted me to update something she said on the show… She said the the refresh rate of the red Qstarz GPS unit was 25hz. It’s actually 10 hz. The Racebox Mini is 25 hz.

The article Go faster: 4 racecraft basics ever racer should master originally appeared in the August 2000 issue of Grassroots Motorsports. Some information and prices may have changed but all text has been left as it originally appeared in print. The information is still helpful.

Samir Abid of Your Data Driven has released a Wet Car Setup: The Smart Way to Handle Changing Conditions. “You’ve had a nice dry morning, and now the heavens have opened. Suddenly, you’re staring at a wet track—or worse, that tricky in‑between stage where parts of the circuit are damp and others are drying. The question on everyone’s mind: what’s the right wet car setup?”

Randy Pobst explains how to overcome understeer. “Any driving instructor worth their sunburn will advise you not to lift suddenly in a corner ’cause it throws weight forward and makes the rear light. If weight improves grip in front when you lift in a corner, why would it hurt grip in the front of a car, especially a FWD?”

In the video above, Enzo Mucci explains the focus trick that every racer needs. “This video is about using less emotions and being more logical in the way you approach your driving and your racing in general.”

Race Car & Series Developments

FIA Formula Regional European Championship Introduced for 2026

The FIA and ACI have announced the creation of the FIA Formula Regional European Championship, a brand-new, FIA-supported single-seater competition set to commence in 2026. This marks a crucial next step in the FIA’s structured talent development pathway.

The new championship will feature the Gen 2 Formula Regional chassis and a new tyre specification from Pirelli, ensuring the very latest safety innovations, technical modernity, and better alignment with FIA global standards. This will modernise the Formula Regional category and reinforce its position as a true international benchmark in driver development.

The transition from FRECA in 2025 to the new FIA-supported format in 2026 will mean a complete reset of the technical and sporting package, creating a platform aligned with the demands of today’s market and tomorrow’s talent.

IMSA will see Le Mans Prototype 3 (LMP3) competition expand through an enhanced program offering in 2026 owing to several new opportunities and components. The LMP3 class will continue within the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge and also will be open to compete in four additional endurance event weekends. More details can be found at the IMSA website here.

The 2026 schedule for Mustang Challenge North America has been revealed by Ford. Next year, the one-make series will visit six premier racetracks in the United States during its third season, supporting IMSA and WEC races. RACER has all the details here.

An eight-race schedule for the 2026 SUPER GT season has been revealed, featuring only minor changes compared to the 2025 version. Published by Japanese national federation JAF, the calendar features the same roster of six domestic circuits, plus Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit.

Also in Japan, the 2026 Super Formula calendar has been revealed by Japanese national federation JAF, featuring a significant reshuffle of dates in the first half of the season. There are no international races on the schedule following Super Formula’s aborted attempt at establishing a presence in South Korea for the current season.

Sigma P1 is establishing a one make prototype series in Brazil for 2026 according to Daily Sportscar. “The planned Sport Protótipo series will debut in 2026 with a package that is aiming to win friends across the board. Sigma P1 G5 Evo promises GT3 performance but with running costs under those of a GT4, and a bargain price of c.$170,000 USD.”

Going into its fourth season, Eurocup-3 is set for a complete shake-up as it introduces a brand-new chassis, welcome new additions to the grid and races at major new venues. Feeder Series tells you all that you need to know about the championship’s 2026 season.

The British Racing & Sports Car Club (BRSCC) has confirmed that the Caterham Graduates Racing Club (CGRC) will be joining its championship portfolio from the start of the 2026 season. The CGRC offers two main Caterham-based classes: Sigma 135, which includes a variety of upgraded Roadsport, Academy and 270R-spec cars producing around 135bhp, and Sigma 150, based on the more powerful 310R-spec cars and former Sigmax machinery, running at around 150bhp. This structure allows a broad range of cars and budgets to compete competitively, with a strong emphasis on driving skill, fairness, and progression.

IMSA will continue to “honor the investments” made by teams with the CUPRA Leon VZ TCR by maintaining its eligibility in Michelin Pilot Challenge despite the Spanish brand’s recent announcement that it will postpone its planned road car launch in the U.S. “While Cupra has postponed its previously stated plans to enter the U.S. market by 2030, the brand continues to be recognized as an official OEM partner of IMSA.”

KTM X-Bow production looks set to end but the sportscar may still find a home with another manufacturer. We are far in the process of selling the X-Bow car. We sold 36 last year. Again, a super project, and we’ve proven what we are capable of and have one of the best engineers in the world. But the project does not help us to sell motorcycles.”

In a market traditionally dominated by individuals and private teams, Supercar Sharing is now introducing a new and efficient alternative to full race car ownership: the Supercar Sharing Racing Club. This program aims to lower the barriers to circuit driving while delivering professional-grade support, shared operating costs, and access to high-performance track-ready vehicles.

Positioned as an evolution in the automotive sharing economy, the Racing Club builds on Supercar Sharing’s four-year track record in luxury vehicle co-ownership. Having facilitated the shared use of Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches and McLarens across Europe, the company now expands into track-specific territory with purpose-built infrastructure.
