Lamborghini goes sim racing in this week’s Sim Racing Roundup and I have the details. You will also learn how one driver has parlayed iRacing success into real-world motorsport, find out how a major racing school is using sim racing for driver development and much more!
From Sim Racing to the Real Thing

iRacing chronicles how Ivan Machado Perez has parlayed iRacing competition to real-world motorsport success. “During the 2024 season, together with the Skip Barber Racing School, iRacing played host to the Skip Barber Formula iRacing Series, a virtual competition with real-world stakes on the line for the top competitors. After the full season of competition, three drivers were invited to the real-world racing school for a chance at competing full-time in the real-world series in 2025. Spain’s Ivan Machado Perez was able to stand above the others and earn that ride, and so far, things are looking bright for the rookie competitor in the 2025 season.”

The boundaries between the real and virtual racing worlds are rapidly blurring, whether it is through esports competitions, AR-enhanced overlays, or real-time leaderboards. Speedway Digest looks at how sponsors bridge live racing and digital play.

In a move that blends motorsport tradition with cutting-edge technology, the Skip Barber Racing School has officially adopted SimCraft’s advanced racing simulators as part of its core driver development program. The integration marks a pivotal evolution in how new and seasoned racers alike will prepare for track time—by first logging translational seat time in a motion simulator that moves like a real car.
