The FIA has developed a new steering damper as it aims to lessen hand injuries in Formula E. The incidents led to an investigation from the governing body, which revealed that in front-end crashes, the steering wheel tended to rotate up to 10 times faster than usual. RACER has more details here.

Robb Holland is a professional race car driver, but even he learned a thing or two after riding shotgun with F1 driver Carlos Sainz. “But on the other side of things, how often do you get a chance to watch an F1 driver at the top of his game work from up close and personal? Seeing how a world-class driver can balance the car coming into the corner, how he rotates it mid-corner, and how he goes back to throttle? These are things that you can’t get from watching it on TV, no matter how good the coverage is. That “once in a lifetime” opportunity and my professional curiosity overrode any trepidation I had about being a passenger. I said yes.” Read about his experience at The Drive here.

Organisers of the British Touring Car Championship have announced the latest technical regulations, which will come into force from the 2027 season. The new rules will be an evolution of the NGTC regulations that were first introduced back in 2011 and will be in place until at least the end of 2031.

The FIA will focus on TC Lite and the TCL4/TCL5 regulations as stepping stones into touring car racing for young drivers, whilst retaining the partnership with TCR rights holder WSC Ltd to keep TCR at the top of the touring car pyramid.

“What we’re focusing on separately ourselves is actually the junior levels because what we see is that even if we look at most of our drivers, it’s probably an ageing demographic. We have a lot of guys that go into touring cars and what we need to do is to bring more young people into touring cars.”

WSC president Marcello Lotti confirmed that the FIA TCR World Tour will head to Australia after the European leg of the championship, despite the recent issues of TCR Australia which has seen the series reduce its calendar to just two race weekends. “It’s confirmed that we will race in Australia,” Lotti told Touring Car Times.

Toyota’s not-so-secret mid-engine sports car program has hit a snag. The GR Yaris M Concept, which the company announced back in January, has still not made an appearance in Japan’s Super Taikyu racing series. With five of the seven races scheduled for 2025 already in the bag, it’s becoming increasingly unlikely that the GR Yaris M will race in the series this year.

Grassroots Motorsports has two track car reviews, with each more different than the other.

Hyundai’s high-performance N division is going all-in on electric speed, and now it has the hardware to match. Fresh off a successful Ioniq 6 N debut at Goodwood, the company has confirmed it will open a new N-branded fast-charging station right at the Nürburgring — one of the most fearsome test tracks on Earth and the spiritual home of the N brand.

“The Nürburgring station is Hyundai’s second N Charging Station globally, following the first one launched last year in Australia. Positioned beside the Nordschleife circuit entrance, the new unit will deliver 150 kW fast charging, allowing drivers to juice up quickly between laps — whether they drive a Hyundai or not.”

The new Praga Bohema stands in its own niche. There’s no hybridisation, no batteries. Neither is there an exotic number of cylinders. Instead, there’s a 710PS (522kW) V6 engine (which, for road use, has an unlimited-mileage three-year warranty) and a three-figure kerb weight. It’s light, then, and that promises agility as well as speed. In other words, it has our attention. Read more about the Praga at Goodwood Road & Racing.
