The virtual dust has barely settled but I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Mark Boudreau and I am the publisher of Motorsport Prospects.
Though trained as a lawyer I have always been passionate about motorsport, ever since a certain Canadian named Gilles Villeneuve burst onto the Formula 1 scene. Like many Canadians, I watched his exploits in awe and cried in despair at his passing but the seed was planted and in 1983 I attended my first Canadian Grand Prix and my love affair with Formula 1 and motorsport in general had begun.
Throughout the years I have always been interested in the young Canadians attempting to make it to Formula 1 and I enjoyed tracking their progress in Europe, quite a difficult prospect in that pre-internet age! Drivers like Stephane Proulx, Alan Berg, Bertrand Godin and Bertrand Fabi worked hard to make it to the pinnacle of motorsport yet sadly for a number of reasons, none succeeded.
Becoming a professional race car driver is in a way a crazy dream but it is a dream born of passion and perseverance. The obstacles are great and the commitment both in time and money is daunting but still young boys and girls hit the karting tracks around the world clinging to this dream and work hard to make it happen. Motorsport Prospects has been developed to help those young boys and girls, and eventually all race car drivers by providing them with a digital platform that allows them to see for themselves the tools and resources that are available to help make those dreams a reality.
It is early days yet and the site beta has just been launched but over the coming weeks, months and years Motorsport Prospects intends to grow to become the preeminent source for motorsport resources and career information in the world. A lofty goal indeed but one that I believe is attainable with passion, hard work and the motivation to help those who wish to race as a career or as a hobby.
