How to Shorten Lap Times–One Section of Track at a Time
Finding lap time can feel overwhelming when you look at an entire circuit, but this Grassroots Motorsports article argues that the biggest gains often come from focusing on just one key section of the track at a time. Using Sebring’s challenging Turn 3-4-5 complex as an example, driver coach Peter Krause explains how improving fundamentals such as car placement, braking discipline, throttle commitment and consistency can unlock significant performance gains. The article provides a practical framework for self-coached drivers to identify where time is really being lost and how to methodically find speed without taking unnecessary risks. Entries Open for 2026 FIA GT World Cup as New Silver Cup Launches

Registrations for the 2026 FIA GT World Cup are now open, marking the start of the countdown to the world’s most prestigious sprint race for GT3 machinery. The event will take place on the legendary Guia Circuit in Macau from 19–22 November and will introduce a new initiative designed to support the next generation of talent.
The 2026 edition will once again welcome an elite field of Gold and Platinum-rated drivers competing for FIA GT World Cup glory. At the same time, a significant new step has been taken to recognise and encourage emerging talent with the creation of the new Silver Cup.
Introduced in response to the growing strength and visibility of Silver-rated competitors in GT racing, the new category will provide recognition for the top-performing Silver driver in Macau. The Silver Cup winner will receive a dedicated podium ceremony and will share in a prize fund totalling USD 22,000.
The initiative creates a pathway for talented drivers seeking to establish themselves at the highest level of GT competition. By racing alongside some of the sport’s most accomplished professionals on one of the world’s most demanding circuits, Silver-rated drivers will have a unique opportunity to demonstrate their speed, race craft and resilience on a global stage, while gaining valuable experience among the GT racing elite.
Registrations will remain open until 17 July, with drivers and teams invited to submit their applications for the ninth edition of the FIA GT World Cup. For more information regarding the registration process, visit: fia.com/events/gt-world-cup/season-2025/registrations
Entire 2026-27 Asian Le Mans Series Season Could Be Held in Europe
The entire 2026-27 Asian Le Mans Series season will be staged in Europe if the series is not able to organize races in Dubai and Abu Dhabi according to championship boss Frederic Lequien. “The next Asian Le Mans Series could be a little bit different if the situation remains the same in the Middle East,” Lequien told Sportscar365.

2026 F4 South East Asia Championship Cancelled
According to the Eurasia Motorsport team, Topspeed, the organizer of the F4 SEA Championship certified by FIA, has informed the teams that due to the ongoing situation in the Middle East, which has seen the majority of the race cars trapped in Dubai, the Championship has been cancelled. “In reality this was the only option open to them. We all now look forward to building the championship’s return for 2027.”
Toyota Gazoo Racing NZ Offers Biggest Ever Prize Opportunity for its Champions
The 2027 Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Trophy Champion and Trans-Tasman Trophy winner will secure themselves a spot on the starting grid of the 2027 Macau Grand Prix.
“One driver could become only the third driver after Roberto Moreno and Richard Verschoor to have their names on both the New Zealand and Macau Grand Prix trophies, which is a very special achievement given they are the only two FIA-sanctioned events outside of F1 to legitimately be able to refer to themselves as Grands Prix.
“From 2026 there is even more significance for the Macau GP with it also becoming the FIA Formula Regional World Cup using the Gen 2 Formula Regional Tatuus chassis similar to that which we will use in New Zealand. Our championship has a unique attraction due to the high volume of mileage and the intense competition which is unrivalled in preparing drivers for northern hemisphere competition in Europe, America or Asia. We run at the most convenient time of the calendar year for them and we are the most cost effective FR competition in the world.”

FIA Historic Motor Sport Commission Unveils Historic Roadmap to Strengthen Period Compliance Through 2030
The FIA has unveiled a new Historic Motor Sport Roadmap, outlining a phased approach to period compliance scrutineering from 2026 through to 2030. The initiative is designed to strengthen consistency, fairness and credibility across historic motor sport, through a harmonised framework for eligibility control and compliance monitoring.
The roadmap includes the publication of specification guidance, the recruitment and training of FIA Eligibility Delegates, as well as enhanced support for organisers and competitors. A dedicated education and observation phase will follow before progressively introducing compliance monitoring, reporting and enforcement measures.
By 2030, the framework will be fully activated, with the implementation of enforcement mechanisms designed to ensure long-term adherence to period-correct specifications. The roadmap forms part of the FIA’s ongoing commitment to preserving the authenticity and integrity of historic competition for future generations.

Meet the Crazy Golf with Altitude

Since 1916, Colorado’s Pikes Peak has been one hell of a mountain to climb, and Briton Jim Morris is tackling this year’s event in a special new-build VW Golf turbocar. “The charismatic German game-changer looks tiny in comparison to its Mk7 descendant on which the Pikes Peak racer is loosely based. “It started out as a lightly damaged 2013 Golf Blue Motion, bought from breakers Copart,” explains Morris at its launch, before Motorsport Industry Association luminaries and guests, at Stoneleigh HQ.“
