How amateur drivers are fueling IMSA’s Porsche Carrera Cup growth and how it affects you is just one of the topics covered in this week’s Business of Being a Race Driver. I also have tips on how to start your sponsorship proposal, how to track, measure and understand ROI and much more!

How Amateur Drivers are Fueling IMSA’s Porsche Carrera Cup Growth

Here is the second episode of sponsorship basics videos from Konig Wheels USA (I posted their Sponsorship 101 video last week). “Ever wonder how people get sponsored in motorsports…. (or anything)? Maybe you’re sitting there wanting to approach brands and companies for sponsorship, but you have no clue where to start. Well, you’re in the right place on the internet right now, because today we are going over exactly how to START YOUR SPONSORSHIP PROPOSAL by introducing yourself! There’s a lot of info out there, but nothing out there is breaking down specifically what we look for in a good sponsorship proposal. In our experience, we see sponsorship proposals EVERY DAY, so we’re putting this series together as a cheat code. You passed Sponsorship 101, now welcome to 201- where we’ll go over introducing yourself in a concise, efficient way… all while grabbing the reader’s attention.”

IMSA’s Porsche Carrera Cup: How Amateurs Fuel Growth

Porsche Carrera Cup North America

Amateur racers now make up over half the Porsche Carrera Cup North America grid, proving how tiered class structures are reshaping revenue and redefining IMSA’s entry-level motorsports model. Vantage explains why and how it affects you.

“To enhance accessibility and diversity, the series incorporates targeted incentives that lower entry barriers for select groups. Talent identification programs offer substantial financial support, drawing in aspiring professionals, while subsidies address underrepresented demographics. These measures expand the participant base without eroding the core amateur-funded foundation, creating a balanced ecosystem where revenue from one group supports opportunities for others.”

Motorsport As a Business Engine: The Ultimate Guide to Sponsorships that Work

How Amateur Drivers are Fueling IMSA’s Porsche Carrera Cup Growth

Imagine you are sitting in your company’s boardroom. On the table, the sports sponsorship budget for 2026. The question you are asking – and being asked – is always the same: Where should you invest for maximum return? The Los Angeles Olympics are still a long way off in 2028. The 2026 World Cup will last only a month. Tennis offers fragmented visibility over tournaments scattered across the calendar. And then there is motorsport, which is quietly revolutionizing the rules of the game.

We are not talking about an emotional choice or passion for motors. We are talking about math applied to business. The numbers tell a story that too many still ignore: while other sports offer peaks of attention followed by long silences, motorsport guarantees a constant, measurable and global presence that turns investments into tangible results.

Riccardo Tafà of RTR Sports Marketing goes into the details.

Sponsorship ROI: How To Track, Measure and Understand ROI

If you represent a brand that invests in sports partnerships, it’s essential to have a clear understanding of your Return on Investment (ROI). Knowing your sponsorship ROI gives you the ability to evaluate performance, justify spend to internal stakeholders, and make smarter strategic decisions about future campaigns. New F3 Prize ‘Not Going to Finance a Full Season in F2’ but Will Still Help Drivers

Recently, Formula 3 introduced a prize fund of €1 million to be split among the top five drivers who step up from F3 to F2. Bruno Michel, the chief executive of the series’ promoter Formula Motorsport Limited, spoke to Feeder Series and selected media following the announcement.

“I think it’s quite fair to do that and I think it’s quite fair to encourage the pyramid. The fact that we are helping F3 drivers to go to Formula 2 is something that is quite natural. Maybe we could have done it earlier, but at least we’ve done it this year and we’ll do it for a long time.”
