JCB’s Hydromax Sets Hydrogen Land Speed Record
JCB has set a new world record for hydrogen-powered vehicles with its Hydromax streamliner in Bonneville, Utah. Following on from last week’s Southern California Timing Association’s Blown Gas Streamliner class record of 368.347 mph the car, powered by two production-based turbocharged digger engines and driven by overall land speed record holder Wing Commander Andy Green OBE, recorded an average speed 400.623 mph on its first run on Tuesday morning then registered 412.135 mph on its second run to give an average of 406.320 mph in the FIA’s Category A, Group XIV – Class 7 FIA World Flying Record Start Land Speed Record. Neville Voss Announces GT Cup Debut While Driving Motorsport Towards Net Zero
British racing driver, entrepreneur and renewable energy specialist Neville Voss (Nev Voss) has announced his debut in the GT Cup Championship, combining elite motorsport with a mission to help race teams and circuits become more sustainable while reducing operating costs.
Known throughout the paddock as Nev Voss, Neville Voss is not only progressing into one of the UK’s most competitive GT racing championships, but is also bringing years of renewable energy expertise to the motorsport industry through his role as Technical Director of Infinity Renewables Group.
Having helped deliver thousands of renewable energy installations across the UK, Neville Voss believes the same engineering principles that improve performance on the race track can also transform how motorsport approaches energy consumption, carbon reduction and long-term financial sustainability.
“Motorsport has always been about innovation,” said Neville Voss. “The same attention to detail that finds lap time can also reduce energy costs, improve efficiency and create a more sustainable future for our sport.”
As race circuits, workshops and engineering facilities continue to face rising energy costs and increasing environmental expectations, Nev Voss is now working with motorsport organisations to develop practical Net Zero strategies without compromising performance.
His work includes advising race teams, circuits and commercial partners on renewable energy solutions including solar PV, battery storage, EV charging infrastructure and intelligent energy management systems. The objective is simple: reduce operating costs, lower carbon emissions and reinvest those savings back into motorsport.
One of the most innovative aspects of the program is Infinity Renewables Group’s affiliate partnership scheme, designed specifically to benefit the motorsport community.
Rather than relying solely on traditional sponsorship, race teams and motorsport partners can introduce homeowners or businesses interested in renewable energy solutions. Infinity Renewables Group manages the design and installation, while the referring team receives a commission for successful introductions. This creates a valuable new revenue stream that can help fund testing, equipment, vehicle development and race entries.
“For many teams, every pound matters,” said Nev Voss. “If we can help reduce electricity bills, support the transition to Net Zero and create additional income that helps keep people racing, then that’s a win for everyone.”
The initiative extends beyond individual teams, with Neville Voss also supporting race circuits in identifying opportunities to improve energy resilience and reduce long-term operational costs. By integrating renewable technologies into circuit infrastructure, venues can improve sustainability credentials while enhancing financial stability for years to come.

FIA Eco Rally Scotland Delivers Electrifying Finish
Spain’s Jose Manuel Perez Aicart and Javier Herrera Alejos claimed victory, in the Hyundai Inster, at the 2026 FIA Eco Rally Scotland after a thrilling weekend of sustainable motorsport, with one of the closest finishes in FIA Eco Rally Cup history highlighting the incredible precision required to succeed.
The second running of FIA Eco Rally Scotland, organized by Motorsport UK in partnership with Saltire Rally Club, welcomed 15 crews from nine nations to Dundee for Round 8 of the 2026 FIA Eco Rally Cup. Across two days, competitors tackled a demanding 259-mile route through Tayside and the Fife coastline in standard production electric vehicles.

A Woman in the Driving Seat? Formula E Boss Confident His Series Will Beat F1
Formula E chief executive Jeff Dodds has no doubt his all-electric series will beat Formula One in the race to put a woman in the driving seat. “Would I have a bet that Formula E will (again) have a woman racing driver competing at the main championship level ahead of Formula One? Absolutely I would make that bet,” Dodds told Reuters ahead of Formula E’s season-ending races at London Excel this weekend.
“Obviously, I’d never make a financial bet, because that would go against any governance rules, but if you and I want to have a private beer on it then I’m happy to make it.”
